LONDON’S FIRST AUTHENTIC XI’AN RESTAURANT

ABOUT MURGER HAN

Our story begins in the northwest of China

Authentic Xi’an Flavors Across London

Since 2014, we have proudly pioneered the first Xi’an-style restaurant in Euston, London, introducing authentic flavours from northwest China. On our opening day, we sold out within two hours, marking the beginning of our journey. By 2016, we expanded to Mayfair, attracting tourists and food enthusiasts alike.

Our third location in 2020, right across from Sky Garden in Bank, became a bustling hub for professionals, regularly packed during lunch hours. In 2022, we established our fourth branch in Elephant & Castle, spreading our distinct flavours across all corners of London – North, South, East, and West.

As we celebrate our 10-year milestone this year, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our patrons. Your support has made our journey possible, and our presence in London’s food scene would not be the same without you.

Our founder’s vision goes beyond serving food – we aim to bring the rich culinary heritage of Xi’an to the West. Featured on ITV Hub, Time Out Secret London, and Phoenix TV and collaborating with leading brands, we not only offer authentic flavours but also proudly export Chinese culture.

From China’s History to Your Plate:

Our story begins in Xi’an, northwest China, home to the world’s oldest “sandwich” – the Murger (Roujiamo). Tracing back over 2,000 years to the Qin Dynasty, this street food sustained ancient soldiers and is now a beloved culinary tradition. We take pride in serving this historic dish, where simmered tender meat is sandwiched between crispy, fluffy bread – much like the Western hamburger but with an ancient twist.

Our menu also highlights traditional Cold Noodles, a royal tribute dish from the time of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, created in a year of drought. Steamed and served with rich seasonings, this dish impressed the emperor and became a celebrated staple.

Our Handmade Noodles, also known as “Biang Biang” noodles, are crafted using centuries-old techniques. Named after the sound of the dough hitting the table, this dish is served with hot oil and red chilli peppers, telling the tale of a scholar’s clever escape from a bill.

Lastly, our Clay Pot Dishes and Murger Soup bring warmth and comfort, originating from stories of resilience and resourcefulness during the Song Dynasty. Whether slow-cooked casseroles or savoury soups, these dishes are steeped in tradition, offering more than just a meal – they offer a taste of Chinese history.

From the heart of Xi’an to the streets of London, we are proud to share our culture through food. Welcome to our table.
